Final

I never thought that I would enjoy Life Drawing as much as I have. I was very scared coming into this class. I knew that my draw abilities were not the greatest, but Amy never brought that up. She just showed you what you were good and and made you focus on what you need to work on. I thought the class was a lot of fun and I learned so much.

I think the biggest thing that I learned this semester is to just be more confident in myself and my draw style. I learned that I just need to clear my mind and just do it and not think about what others are going to think. I think that I have done a good job at improving my cross contour lines in my drawings and I also think that I have done a better job on my perspective.

Overall I think this class was really good for me. I think that I will be able to use this in my metals work, because I am starting to focus more on organic forms.

The End is Near

So my camera is lost right now so sadly no pictures :( I feel like this class has gone by so fast. I feel like I have learned a lot and I am still learning. I think that I have gotten more comfortable with my drawing skills. Drawing still isn't one of my favorite things to do but I do enjoy it much more now because of this class.

Back in Style!

So it has been awhile...but no worries I am back. I class, when we are in class, we have just been working our way to the shoulders and feet. All we have left to draw are the hands and the head. on pipin we have added muscles to the arms and all of the leg muscles done. We have also been working hard on our shell drawings. We just added an ink wash to the drawings and I personally thought that that was a lot of fun. I really liked the way we were able to add depth in the shell.

Midterm!!!

http://www.flickr.com/photos/48477508@N02/

So far in Life Drawing I, I have learned so much. I didn't really think that I was going to enjoy this class as much as I have. I am becoming more confident in my drawing skill and I am even learning to enjoy cross-couture drawing. I really enjoy the 1 minute gesture drawings, it really helps warm up for the longer drawings. I am just really excited to continue to learn more.

I think that my weakest thing it perspective. I have always struggled with it but I am getting better. I think one of my strengths is that I am getting better at just letting go and letting my arm do the drawing. I have learned to look more and study and then put pen to paper. I think for the second half of the semester I would like to work on perspective more and also just keep drawing more. I have never been the person that enjoys drawing but I have found that I am enjoy this class. I think I will be able to use what I have learned from this class in what I want to do in life in the way to just let go and draw. In art therapy I think it is sometimes important to just have the person stop thinking and just draw.

Fish

So I really just thought the picture was funny and my camera was not working so that is why there is a picture of fish. Anyways in class we talked about our shell drawings and we also added more to our skeleton. Not going to lie add the new muscles was very confusing!!! I had no idea how they related to each other. Well on to another week...

The Walker

This is the piece that I choose to write about for this assignment. The title is "Synchromy in Green and Orange" made in 1916 by Stanton McDonald-Wright. Cubism greatly influenced this work of art and is a very linear painting. This is oil on canvas and there is no signature of the artist on the painting. A quote that Wright said about this painting is, "[Synchromy] is to color what symphony is to sound, it means everything is done with color."

I just have to say that I loved this painting. I felt there was a real movement in the piece. It danced for me and classical music just filled my head. It was soft and feathered yet still had clean lines between the colors. I cold see a dancer in the piece that was stationary yet still streching. I felt there was a great depth in the piece and it jumped out at you, in a gentle way. Th one thing that I hated was the way in which it was displayed. I wanted to get up close to it and just look but I feel like you really couldn't do that because you had to look through binoculars. I didn't think the viewer could truly appreciate how amazingly beautiful that painting was.

Meet Pipin!!

So this is my skeleton Pipin. I decided to name him because I knew that I would be spending a lot of time with him. This week we had to add abs to our skeleton. Last week we also did cross contour drawings with the model. This I am not a fan of. I just think that my drawings don't look right :( but oh well I will continue to work on them.
